About This Spot

Stepping into Floppy Disk Repair Co. feels much like uncovering a secret—a speakeasy tucked behind an unassuming door where the usual city buzz fades into something altogether more mysterious and playful. Located on Austin’s lively E 5th Street, this cocktail bar spins an experience that balances on the edge of dark whimsy and spirited warmth. It’s not a space for small talk or casual sips; rather, it invites you into a world that hums with an electric, slightly eerie pulse, where every corner holds a story and every drink masks a wink.

The atmosphere has a deliberate creepiness, a fun homage to horror themes that most would find unsettling if not for the clearly curated eccentricity. Man-sized dolls perched in shadows, cleverly macabre decor, and even swings at one end of the bar create moments perfect for conversation and unexpected snapshots. The music—often loud and energetic—adds to the lively vibe, echoing the pulse of a night meant for discovery rather than calm reflection.

But beyond the theatrical setting, Floppy Disk Repair Co. excels in crafting cocktails that feel as considered and imaginative as the space itself. Drinks come with names that provoke a grin or a double take, and each one offers a layered tasting experience, playful yet rooted in classic techniques. Whether you find yourself easing into the bittersweet comfort of a Sazerac or chasing the thrill of something more adventurous—like a cocktail with smoky mezcal or a bright, herbaceous twist—there’s an artfulness that invites curiosity and connection.

The bartenders are more than servers; they are guides through this unique world, passionate and ready to tailor the evening to your mood, with a touch of humor and a genuine warmth beneath the edgy exterior. It’s a place that feels alive—a gathering spot for those who crave more than just a good drink, but a story, an atmosphere, and the chance to stumble into a moment you won’t expect but won’t forget.

I don’t know if I’m just not in the know and everyone is aware of the vibes, but it definitely was a surprise when my friend said this was a speakeasy and it turned out to be a horror themed bar on the inside. There’s body bags and random man sized dolls on chairs. The drink themes are funny and cool and the swings and vibe is cool for photos. However, the music is exceptionally loud for such a tiny place and not an actual club.

Really great cocktails, funny names. It was dark and pretty loud during my visit. There may have been a DJ. The atmosphere was pretty chill and one end of the bar has three seats that are swings.

Best place in Austin!! My friends n I stumbled upon this place while trying to find a bar that wasn’t packed on a Monday. Awesome concept and killer music. Menu was hilarious, and bartender was super accommodating. Had the best penicillin here, and it was on the house too! Bartenders are super passionate, will definitely come again when I’m in town!

This speakeasy is absolutely amazing. Great vibes, music, and especially drinks. Layton was an amazing bartender and talked to us almost all night. The drinks are very good, and suitable for all tastes and niches of drinkers.

Visited Austin for a work trip and wanted to visit this special place based on recommendations from co-workers. You have to have the special code to get in, but once you find it and punch it in you enter a magical bar with delicious cocktails. Just be warned the drink names are quite “interesting” so keep an open mind.

Came for new Year's Eve. First off, you have to have a password to get in. Luckily we had a regular who invited us out and had said password. Once inside you are great with a bar and swings. Seating is first come first serve. You are encouraged to use any open spot.. Right away we had a staff bring us water and menus. We took a moment to check everything out and landed on woo girl, trix are not for kids and beanwild rotational and a spice margherita. After that round we had a round of mimosas with a st. Germain floater. Fantastic. This place is fun and the new manager came by and made sure we where good to go. Staff was super friendly and the music kicked as from the DJ. You will have to work to earn the password from what I'm told but once you do there is a news letter to keep you up to date. Check out Floppy Disk repair Co.
